We haven't yet worked out the interactive thing where you become a
virtual member of the band and have to play lots of old-timey
half-broken instruments onstage in front of a bunch of screaming drunk
people who dance around and try to hit you with bottles and wads of
cash while you play, but there's still plenty to keep you busy. Hunt
around and see what you can find -- just make sure you add yourself to
our
mailing list before you leave! Otherwise
how will we be able to contact you in case of emergency? We worry
sometimes, you know.
hey, look at this fancy poster that the INDIE 103 people made for the show on the 10th:

Hey Ladies. Check this out what I found on the internetweb hispeed today:
"Featured currently on the Culture Bunker jukebox, the Soda band (for short) are an ingenious creation who assimilate the American music lexicon and bend it into new and wonderful shapes. Their nearest competition would be The Pogues, although they sound nothing alike. The Pogues famously took old Irish drinking songs, traditional ballads, and the mystique of the Emerald Isle and shot it through the veins of punk rock. Soda & Co., are doing the same for Americana. Soda's gruff and mysterious voice recalls the haunted Tom Waits and his tales of lying women and sinners and early death call to mind the warped world of Nick Cave. On the catchy ditty "July" you can hear the multi-limbed band cranking through accordions, guitars, traps, bass, mandolin, and more instruments I can't identify. When they play a "small" version of the band live, there are 8 members. The full band has 16. They are moved by the pure love of folk, blues, and punk like Frankenstein's monster was moved by a jolt of lightning. Soda used to light up the frets in the kinetic pop punk band Wax, and among the many other members are more than a few seasoned hardcore punks. Theirs is the twilight world of dirt roads and mysterious groves of trees and the open prairie full of strangers on the outskirts of town. It's dusty and greasy, tender and cold-hearted all at once. "Lakeshore" is a sad-eyed waltz, a goodbye letter from a man who just can't be bothered to try anymore. "Christine" features some plucked and reverbed guitar and shuffling rhythms and some crazy blowing on a mic'd harmonica. These 10 tracks are all vignettes of American gothic, stories of the cold landscape of the great empty spaces, played by a fantastically crowded band. On slower numbers, like "Sinner Man" the multitude of musicians create their own thread in the tapestry of the song. Far from playing all over each other, they open up the space in the music."
thats what I thought!!!

ok... Ill try to catch some of you up now. Lets see... well, heres something: they added us to the indie 103 playlist today. What does that mean? It means that they will be playing "You Cheat" at least 17 times a week now, and not just on Sunday mornings. Thats pretty good right? And what else... what else? Oh.. we have some new art work and shirts and stuff. Allan Forbes, the guy who did the "tiger" shirt that you all love so much just finished a new piece for the band with this train thing on it thats pretty fucking great. We should have shirts with the new art pretty soon, and its on all the posters. Oh.. theres something. Posters. We have new flyer/poster things for all of our upcoming shows.. so keep your eyes out for them. Theyre black. and nice. Like Bill Cosby. Sorry.
Back to business. How about this: our guitar player Jason did this thing and heres a picture of it.

Pretty good huh? Hes super multi-talented. Some kinda genius. ok.. so what else? Um.. who was at the show the other night at the Avalon? I was. Pretty weird huh? Did you see the part when that thing on Matt Spizers drum exploded and stuff went flying all over the stage and there was smoke? Pretty awesome. Did you see how the power on my side of the stage went out like 5 times during the set and all my stuff would turn on and off? Did you see how METAL we were? That set was for THE ALCHEMIST. I think we made alot of new fans and stuff that night though.
And and and and.. and we play tomorow night with Sounds Of Asteroth at the M BAR again. I know its not up on the shows section, but its been crazy over here.. Im doing my damn best. Ill try to get the show dates up there tonight. And also I have some pictures from the last M BAR show and some from the Avalon show that I linked to, so well see how that goes. But yeah, tomorow night at the M BAR right? I think we play at 11:30 or midnight as usual, but you should get there earlier because Sounds Of Asteroth is real good and youll like it.
So pretty soon youll see all the new art and new site and all that stuff and youll be totaly happy.. but until then just come out to the shows and say hi to us. We like it. ok have fun.

GALAXY SHOW CANCELLED.
There will be no show at The Galaxy Theatre on Nov. 6th.
There was a disconnect with the promoter, and this necessitated a last minute cancellation. Our apologies to the O.C. fans, the Galaxy Theatre, and the other bands who we were looking forward to playing with .
Sorry, Charlie.

We are taking over your televisions.
It all started with an extremely understated presence in the critically ignored
Dead Will Tell (starring Anne Heche as a woman losing her mind, or is she?) now we return on the much acclaimed
Joan of Arcadia. I'm serious. Well, my mom says its a good show, and I try not to watch TV too much so I'll have to trust her.
Anyway, tomorrow night (Friday Nov. 5th) Soda and His Million Piece Band's "Moonlight Drive" will make an appearance during the program. Consult Joan of Arcadia's
ultimate fan site for more information.
Despite rumors to the contrary we still have copies of the first pressing of the album. You can order them by contacting us at
shop@sodaband.com, or if you live in the digital age you can purchase the full album through
itunes. (Thanks to the good people at Mainstream records.)
Also.....If you're not on our mailing list, don't cry yourself to sleep anymore.
Hit us at
mailinglist@sodaband.com and put "subscribe" in the subject line, and then you'll be the envy of all your friends when you announce special shows and info before it's all over the front pages of your local rock rag.
Boom.
Instant awesomeness. Just for you.
