On behalf of Soda & his Million Piece Band, Welcome To Our Website!
We haven't yet worked out the interactive thing where you become a virtual member of the band and have to play lots of old-timey half-broken instruments onstage in front of a bunch of screaming drunk people who dance around and try to hit you with bottles and wads of cash while you play, but there's still plenty to keep you busy. Hunt around and see what you can find -- just make sure you add yourself to our mailing list before you leave! Otherwise how will we be able to contact you in case of emergency? We worry sometimes, you know.

This JUST in: The Westwood Brewing Company will NOT be host to the band this coming Tuseday. Just when I had some hope for my UCLA kin in Westwood Village...

Well, we're back from Vegas, we're still alive, nobody threw up on my shoes, and Soda has twelve dollars left despite an ill-advised trip to the Luxor, so we're counting this trip as a victory! Also, we discovered that Reese's now makes a White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup! But that it's not super good. Soda also claims that they also are now making a Dark Chocolate version as well, but this has not yet been verified. (Maybe on the next trip.) Big Thanks are in order to Lindsay and Mike for saving the day and driving us all the way to another state (of mind) when our previous travel arrangements unexpectedly fell through. We can't thank you enough! But hey, enough thanks-- on towards the FUTURE! This week is looking to be a good one, with our first ever show at world-famous Harvelle's in Santa Monica on Thursday, and then ye olde Hotel Cafe in Hollywood on Friday. I know what you're saying-- the Hotel WHAT? Cafe? Where's that? Is that new? But NO, it's not-- we actually play there quite a bit! You should stop by. It'll be fun.

Yes folks, it's TRUE-- due to overwhelming demand, and some guy with an OGO, the sodaband is off to Las Vegas Nevada this weekend to play once more at the happiest place on earth, THE DOUBLE DOWN SALOON! it's a super-secret last-minute type thing, so don't tell anybody, or else we might get claustrophobic in there. apparently we'll be playing sometime after midnight on may 21st-- that's this saturday night (sunday morning)... and knowing the doubledown, that probably means sometime WAY after midnight. not that any of you vegas people care a whit for little things like TIME and DECENCY and whatnot. just bring on the drugs and the booze and the scantily-clad ladies and all's well with the world, right? oh the lessons life has to teach.

now where did i put that inhaler?

Saturday's performance was the stuff of legends.

First, it was lead off by excellent performances by The Hot Tramps, fully supported with tambourines and go-go dancing, and followed by veteran compatriots The Sounds of Asteroth. The latter got down and dirty with a combination of glitter, robot dancing, pelvic gyrations and so many melody changes, I couldn't but think of it as some beautiful love child of Mr. Bungle and the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Awesome.

History was written, however, when both Soda and Asteroth guest vocalist Sprinkle gallantly dashed away from the stage on official government business of the highest importance to national security. Suddenly faced with the second verse and no lyric sheet, right in the middle of the house-shaking cover of "Black Sabbath," Mike answered a divine calling, found a melodica (the keyboard thing you blow into, in case you didn't know, like me) in a nearby field (or parking lot), and filled in the missing melody. To top it off, he even played it through the Blessed Bullhorn. All present will never hear that song the same way.

Mike has plans for bringing goats into the show as soon as the name changes to "Mike's Melodica and it's Million Piece Band."

Exciting times in Sodaland! We are now, miraculously, a featured band on the Myspace "music" page, which brings twice as many people to our page every day as when we were working our fingers to the bone trying to do it on our own. Ah, the wonders of advertising! Big Thanks are in order to whoever got us up on that page-- there is truly a special berth waiting for you in Soda Heaven. And probably a Captain & Coke or two as well.

In other news, we just got back from San Francisco, where we had a great time playing at Thee Parkside and on the highly secret and secretive Pirate Kat Radio. Favorite band memories include a lengthy photo op on the Golden Gate Bridge, an encounter with the most condescending bartender of all time (Trophy Room, anybody?), a certain percussionist spewing violent chunks in response to the overwhelming beauty of the Marin Headlands, the entire band getting slaughtered at ping-pong by a smiley, diminutive brazilian girl, and last but not least, Sleep's Holy Mountain rescuing us from a dreary, traveling wall of Richard Ashcroft.

Saturday Night: RETURN TO THE M BAR!
